The Family Get Away

Well I did it! I said I would, then I did just as the "Little Little Engine Who Could"and said, "I think I can, I think can" held my breathe and jumped in! What is this amazing task that I completed you ask? Took my family on a week vacation. ( I know... your asking whats the BIG DEAL? ) Well believe it or not it  is our families first real vacation.
Leave the work at home ( I only got caught working a few times...) , ALL the animals, gather up teens from all over and go! And did we ever.( The Mr. said if I could pay for it we would go) so  I saved my pennies and off we went!

One week of relaxing, swimming, eating (no calorie counting) and family time and even a few romantic moments (wink wink) and it was so worth it!

Here it is in a pictorial...

The Adventure Continues

Well when I started this blog 3 years ago I said I wanted to leave the city behind and get back to the country... little did I know the adventure that awaited me!

Not that I ever knew the country, no grandparents, aunts or uncles on a farm. No family friends with chickens just a lot of episodes of "Little House on the Prairie" when I was growing up. If they only knew how dangerous this show could actually be for some kids!

I mean don't we look like that? Ok not quite but we had a goal and that is a starting point.... RIGHT???

So we started the adventure with the 100 year old Farm House

then the chickens,

 then the ducks,

 then the 2 dairy goats

and so on......
 and so on...
BUT being one who has never been present when anything other then my kiddo's were born I was in for a new experience. And a new experience it was... BABY GOATS with me assisting. AND was there a trained vet near by??? of course not!!! Just good ol YouTube and a dear friend (thanks Deana I couldn't have done it with you!). BUT we did it. I cried, I was scared but 2 healthy little bucks Zac and Zeke are here!

(aren't they precious!!!)

And we just love them!

Together we got through it and I don't think either of us could be happier.
(Zoie did amazing as this was her first time too!)

SO the MORAL to the story... IF YOU want to get back to the homestead but never thought it possible because it wasn't where you started... REMEMBER if I can do it ANYONE can.. and in the process you might find that it is all you would ever need for adventure and peace!

KC's College Tour

Well I did it... I sucked it up and did it. I have finally accepted that my oldest daughter is going to leave me and find a life of her own...(Sigh) and how did I do this you ask? or not....

Well "we" went on a college tour together. She has been on 4 others with school officials or teachers but never with MOM. She said when she thought she had found the one we would go together. And today was that day! It was hard even though it is a whole year away. I mean REALLY hard! BUT it was only 2 hours away (she drives one hour, I drive one hour and we are together again) ='s one Happy Momma!

Do I sound NEEDY or what!?!  But I love her so much the thought has me already missing her....

BUT if you could have seen her face. Seen the way she lit up when we walked the dorms, went and talked to professors, and walked the campus... she was HOME!

S...I....G.....H....

At least the home she will soon take on.
 Again a year from now...
( I know I know...suck it up you big baby!)

but sometimes it takes me a while to deal when it comes to my kiddos.... and for some reason even more when it is one of my daughters...

because I still remember this girl....

I do think it is going to be a great fit for her. One of the best colleges for her degree in Elementary Education and a minor in theatre....(she thinks) it was also just named the safest campus in Ks. So that helps too...

SO I guess now it scholarship time... cause look at that face...

How could I not make sure this happens!
